Google Classroom: Guardian summary

As a guardian, you can receive email summaries showing your student’s progress in classroom.

Note: You can only receive summaries for students who have a TVSD.INFO account.

  • You can choose the frequency of the emails, such as daily or weekly.

    Note: Daily means Monday to Friday. You won't receive email summaries on Saturdays or Sundays.

  • You can unsubscribe or remove yourself from Classroom at any time.

Guardian email summaries include:

  • Missing work—Work that’s late at the time the email was sent
  • Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or work that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails)
  • Class activity—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers


RECEIVE SUMMARIES

As a guardian, you must receive and accept an email invitation before you can receive email summaries. Only teachers and administrators from your student’s school can send these invitations.

You have 120 days to accept an invitation before it expires.

  1. The teacher or administrator emails you an invitation for a particular student.
    They can send it to any email address.
  2. In your email program, open your email invitation.
  3. Click Accept.
    If you’re not the guardian, click I’m Not The Guardian.

  4. Click Accept again.

When you accept an invitation, your student receives an email confirmation.


You won’t receive an email summary if:

  • There's no activity to report for the given time period.
  • All your student’s teachers turned off notifications for their classes.
  • You selected No summaries for how often you’d like to receive emails.
  • You aren't connected to any students in Classroom.

MANAGE SUMMARIES

To manage your email summary settings, you need a free Google Account. You don’t need a Gmail address to create the account. You can use your current email address.

  1. In your email program, at the bottom of any email summary, click Settings.

  2. On the email settings page, click Create New Account.

  3. Fill in the requested information and submit.
    The email settings page opens.

MANAGE YOUR EMAIL SUMMARY SETTINGS

To manage email summary settings, you need a free Google Account. A Google Account allows you to:

  • Set the frequency of your emails
  • Update your locale
  • View all students connected to your account

To manage your email summary settings:

  1. If you haven’t done so already, create a Google Account.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. In your email program, at the bottom of any email summary, click Settings.

  4. On the email settings page, click Sign In.

  5. Enter your Google Account email address and click Next.

  6. Enter your Google Account password and click Sign in.

  7. Under Frequency, select your desired email frequency.
    If you don’t want to receive emails, select No summaries.

  8. Under Timezone, select your time zone.

  9. (Optional) To check which email address email summaries are sent to, look under Google Classroom email summaries.

UNSUBSCRIBE FROM EMAIL SUMMARIES

Warning: If you don’t have a Google Account, this action removes you as a guardian from your student.

You can unsubscribe from email summaries at any time. As long as you have a free Google Account, you’re still connected to your students.

At the bottom of any email summary, click Unsubscribe.
